While many mainstream beauty products are packed with synthetic fillers and include harsh preservatives and chemical fragrances, Minerelle never budges on keeping our products clean and natural. What We Don’t Use and Why Natural Ingredients Matter
We’ve said a firm no to ingredients that are commonly found in conventional products but known to be irritating or potentially harmful. These include:
- Parabens, which have been linked to hormone disruption
- Talc, often contaminated with asbestos and known to clog pores
- Synthetic fragrances, a leading cause of skin sensitivity and allergic reactions
- Silicones, which can trap dirt and bacteria under a film on the skin
- Petroleum-derived ingredients, which provide no true skin benefit
We also avoid bismuth oxychloride, which is an ingredient often used in mineral makeup for its pearlescent finish. Even though it is a mineral, bismuth oxychloride can inflame sensitive skin. It can actually worsen conditions like rosacea and trigger cystic acne due to its sharp, crystalline structure. It’s an interesting fact that people who react to mineral makeup are really reacting to this one ingredient, so it’s a no-no for Minerelle.
Why We Are Fragrance-Free
Many skincare and cosmetic products list “fragrance” or “parfum” as a key component, but what’s often hidden behind that word is a cocktail of synthetic chemicals. In fact, 95% of the chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. These include known irritants like benzene derivatives and aldehydes. These substances are common skin sensitizers and can cause everything from redness and itching to long-term sensitivity – ouch! Because of this, Minerelle uses no perfumes or synthetic fragrances, making our products ideal for sensitive or reactive skin.
No Fillers, No Talc, No Fluff!
Talc is frequently used in makeup as a cheap filler, but does nothing to benefit your skin. In fact, it can block pores, disrupt normal skin function, and has even been linked to more serious health concerns. At Minerelle, we believe in formulas with purpose. We never use talc or any other filler ingredients. Every component in every product is there for a reason to benefit and not harm your skin.
No Nanotechnology
While nanoparticles are commonly used in cosmetics and sunscreens, the potential health risks they pose are quite concerning. These tiny particles can be absorbed into the body or inhaled, with research ongoing into how they affect human health. We only ever use non-nano forms of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in our mineral formulations, so you can feel confident in both their performance and their safety.
